Most of us are too caught up in our daily routines due to which the quality of coffee we make is the least of our worries. We just check on it to run through the day and if we crave for some good coffee we just go out with a colleague or friend. But, there are actually ways by which you can improve the quality of coffee you make at the comfort of your home when you would rather prefer to stay in. Let’s take a look at some of the basic steps.

Using good quality coffee beans

You must stop buying coffee beans from the grocery store and there is a reason behind it. The reason being that you do not know when it was roasted and this is a highly essential element in making an amazing cup of coffee. Go to authentic coffee shops which give freshly roasted coffee or can at least verify the date and they will not lie as their reputation is on the line. We do not have any idea as for how long the groceries stores have their coffee stored so this small little change will make you notice a big difference,

Store Properly

Take out the coffee beans out of the bags they came in and store it in an airtight jar. This will prolong its life and save it from moisture or else there is a big chance that it becomes stale at your home. Also, make sure to have an opaque jar as direct contact with harmful light will deteriorate the quality of the beans and you will end up with a stale or flat tasting cup of coffee.

Grind properly and just before using

The grind of the coffee highly depends on the type of coffee you are making. For example coarse for French coffee and fine for espresso. One can depreciate between the two grinds as if you rub the coarse grind between your fingers, it will feel similar to coffee crumbs and if you feel the fine grind, it should be similar to sugar.

You must also keep in mind that coffee is extremely porous so it will absorb odours and oxygen if you leave the grounds open for a long while. Oxygen will make your coffee taste extremely bad so one must take care of that.

Measure properly

One must make sure to weigh their coffee before they grind it. For every cup 75oz of coffee beans for every 8oz of cold water is a very good starting point for a well-rounded cup of coffee. Of course one can add more or less according to their taste but this is somewhat ideal.

There are a lot of other things one can do to make the perfect cup of coffee. Once you keep making it and that too not in a rush, you can figure out the perfect technique to make coffee according to your own taste. There is always room for more and more improvement.
